I was an athlete growing up and then did ROTC in college followed by active duty, so I thought I pretty much had it handled when it came to working out. Then a horrible thing happened, my 30s, and my metabolism just left me one day without even so much as a goodbye. I tried Gunny's class as a last resort and immediately lost weight. His workouts burn fat and add muscle. So I look more toned than I ever have before, and the added muscle did the unthinkable and jacked up my metabolism. I started Gladiator Fitness after attending a Spartan Race with my wife Michelle back in 2012. After meeting Gunny and the rest of the group, I was hooked. I wasn't in terrible shape, but was struggling with loss of muscle tone, loss of endurance and some unwanted bulging under my belt. I needed to do something. I've been in the program for 3 years now. I happily show up 3-4 days a week. I've tightened up my belt 3 notches (from a 36" to a 33" waist; working on 32"). I've run 3 of those grueling Spartan Races I mentioned and have more energy at 57 years old than I did in my 30's. I used to think I was disciplined because I woke up at 5am to go to the gym. I was increasingly dissatisfied with the results of my efforts and thought that I was working out the best that I could and that age was the reason that I wasn’t achieving the results that I wanted. A friend (Sabrina) was a dedicated Gladiator Fitness Boot Camp motivator and so I gave it a try three years ago. I was instantly hooked not only because of Gunny’s challenging workouts but because I learned that the food you eat is more important that the amount of exercise in achieving the fitness/health goals you have set for yourself. The success I found at Gladiator Fitness has done more for me than just improved my body. I am a better family man and leader in my career because of it. I am stronger physically, intellectually, spiritually, and emotionally. During my first 9 months at Gladiator Fitness in 2012, I lost 25 pounds. Now, almost four years later, I've kept off all the fat and gained almost 10 pounds of muscle. More than that, however, I finally have control over my body. I know how to use exercise and diet to lose weight when I want, and clearly know the consequences of eating poorly and lack of exercise. Being a part of Gladiator Fitness for almost 3 years now has really been great. The workouts are designed to keep your physical and mental intensity up for entire time you are exercising. Gunny does a great job of carefully choosing exercises that are easy to execute with proper form and technique for longer periods of time to work the body hard with minimal injury risk. The workouts are also designed to keep you motivated through Gunny’s continuous encouragement, Whether you are an athlete who needs an extra push, or someone who hasn’t focused on fitness in some time, Gunny will help you tailor the workout to what you can do. At the same time, he challenges you to keep working hard to make gains and focuses on not just the positive physical attributes of staying fit but the mental attributes as well. I can honestly say what keeps me coming back to Gladiator Boot Camp is the motivation that Gunny brings every morning to the workouts, the changes in our workouts, and that I like what I am doing to keep fit. It's important to like what you do so you stick with it. Although some mornings it's difficult to get out of bed, I remind myself how great I feel the rest of the day. Over the course of 3 years I am a much fitter Mom, I have taken a minute off my mile pace time, I lost 11 pounds on the 21 day Transformation program (I still don't eat bread), I have completed many running races, recently completed a Sprint Spartan, and I have a fitness goal set for 2016 (not disclosing yet).
